Stocks Markets - Stock Markets Columns - Ear to the ground Geodesic Information Systems, a component of the BSE-500 and BSE Midcap, fared better than the indices, which reeled under selling onslaught on Monday. According to market sources, expectations of a significantly higher revenue and earnings growth in the next two quarters of the current fiscal provided a downside support. The company, which had not given any earning guidance for 2007-08, was looking forward to improving its topline and its subsidiaries, Mr Kiran Kulkarni MD told Business Line. After its launch on Sony Ericsson and Nokia handsets early this fiscal, Mundu Speak, an instant VOIP-equipped messaging platform, has been made available on Brew Phones, a Hong Kong-based CDMA player. Its product, Amida Simputer, has accessed education and automobile infotainment markets in the country and abroad. Consolidation of businesses in its subsidiaries in the US, Sweden and Hong Kong is also complete and these three are now poised to contribute to the consolidated balance sheet progressively in the next few quarters. Another subsidiary, Chandamama, is also becoming a revenue generator with a steady 10 per cent increase in subscription after streamlining of its distribution channels and launch of its website. Chandamama has launched audio broadcast in Telugu through a deal with a satellite radio operator, and also on the company’s own internet radio platform. “Negotiations are on for more Indian language radio broadcast deals”, Mr Kulkarni said. The stock closed at Rs 221.40, down three per cent. Jayanta Mallick More Stories on : Stocks | Stock Markets | Ear to the ground | Software
