New Delhi, Feb. 19 A final decision on whether bank employees would go ahead with their planned two-day strike on February 25 and 26 is likely to emerge only after Friday, the day on which conciliatory talks are now proposed to be held between the Government, bank unions and the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA).

The Finance Minister, Mr P Chidambaram, is understood to have assured bank unions today that he would advise the IBA to enter into a time-bound dialogue with them to find expeditious solutions to their demands.

“Everything depends on what happens on February 22. We have been invited for conciliatory talks by the Chief Labour Commissioner on that day”, Mr C.H. Venkatachalam, Convenor, United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), told Business Line soon after the general secretaries of the nine unions comprising UFBU met the Finance Minister here.
