New Products & Services HP rolls out mini-laptops Our Bureau Hyderabad, July 4 Hewlett-Packard is rolling out its smallest notebook personal computer range, which the company refers to as Mini-Note PC, to cater to users who do not want to carry bulky conventional laptops. HP2133 Mini Note PC is half the size of A4 paper with 8.9 inch screen and enables users to handle regular computing tasks, including surfing. The HP range has three such products starting from Rs 30,000 and going up to Rs 45,000 depending upon the configuration. The Country Manager — Business Notebooks, Personal Systems Group, India, Mr Anurag Arora, told Business Line over phone that these products will appeal not just to the youth who want to make a style statement, but also to second and third generation laptop users and road warriors who may not like to carry traditional 12 and 14 inch bulkier models. By inserting a data card, they can also use this as a telephone, if they so wish, he explained. Eventually, the line between high-end smart phones, with say about four inch screen as in Nokia Communicator and Mini PCs now with nine inch screens will blur. Unlike the problem of a small keyboard, even though these laptops are small, they have about 90 per cent the size of conventional keyboard, he said.
