Security Spam warning from Websense Coimbatore, Sept. 11 With less than two months to go for the start of US Presidential election, e-mails circulating fake news of a sex scandal affecting one of the candidates is said to be doing the rounds. And Websense Security Labs ThreatSeeker Network, which discovered this spam e-mail campaign, found that recipients of the mail were encouraged to view a video supposedly involving the Democratic candidate, Mr Barack Obama. Users who clicked the link w ere shown a pornographic video taken from hxxp://homemade*snip*.com/. In a matter of 14 seconds (the time the video plays), malicious applications are installed on the victim’s machine, the Security Lab has stated in a release. While Websense customers are said to be protected against this attack, the ThreatSeeker Network identified a malicious IRS scam hosted on the same domain last week. – Our Bureau More Stories on : Security
