Pune, Nov. 18 IT consulting and services provider Fujitsu Consulting has said it will invest $10 million in expanding operations at its Indian arm Fujitsu Consulting India Pvt Ltd (FCIPL).

Setting up of office in Dubai, under the aegis of the Indian operations, is among the new initiatives on cards.

As part of the company’s ongoing initiative to restructure the IT business globally, the Indian operations will also soon be headed by a single person against the three heads — Mr Rajat Gupta, Mr Vivek Talghatti and Mr Jitendra Tanna — currently in place.

“An announcement will be made soon on this,” Mr Farhat Ali, President and CEO, Fujitsu North America Holding Inc, said. “This is to involve India in the strategy and planning.”

Outlining the strategy for India, Mr Ali said that this included continued investment in IT services, planned expansion of services, reduced dependence on the US for its business and local empowerment.

In an environment of increasing pressure to delay, defer or cancel expenditure and new projects, Mr Mike Senneck, President and CEO, Fujitsu Consulting, said: “We will continue planning and non-discretionary spend.”

The Indian subsidiary, which presently gets 70 per cent of its business from the US, has steadily been growing in other geographies such as Australia, Europe and the Middle East. The target is to expand the size of the pie and also achieve 50 per cent business from outside the US, over the next two to three years, Mr Tanna, Vice-President, FCIPL, said.

Headquartered in Pune, FCIPL employs 1,800, with development centres in Pune, Hyderabad and Delhi.
