After spending decades with public sector giant ONGC followed by a strong stint in Petronet LNG, Ashok Kumar Balyan has now joined the Anil Ambani-led Reliance Group as CEO - Oil & Gas Business.
Former MD & CEO of Petronet LNG Ltd, soft-spoken Balyan's forte has been business development and human resources.
According to Reliance Group, Balyan will be leading its efforts towards setting up an LNG terminal and LNG procurement for the Bangladesh power project being implemented by Reliance Power. This is besides looking for opportunities in the oil and gas space.
Reliance Power recently announced the setting up of a 3,000 MW LNG-based power plant and an LNG terminal in Bangladesh. The total investment in the project, which will be implemented in phases, is estimated to be around ₹18,000 crore.
Prior to joining Petronet LNG, Balyan served as Director in charge of HR, Business Development & Joint Ventures in ONGC. He joined Petronet in 2010 and completed a five-year term on July 15.
