European firm Lightsource Renewable Energy today announced it has bagged a 50 mw solar project in Maharashtra under the government’s solar programme.
This is the maiden solar project secured by the company in India, a company statement said.
Nick Boyle, CEO, Lightsource said: “We are...taking the first steps towards our ambitions for investment in India’s solar PV market. The Indian Government has a huge appetite for solar energy and we believe that Lightsource will contribute significantly towards their targets.”
The government has announced a goal of achieving 100 GW of solar capacity by 2022.
Lightsource is Europe’s largest developer and operator of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects.
