The country's largest passenger carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) resumed production from Monday morning after the maintenance closure.

The maintenance closure had been advanced by three weeks to June 6-11, following a fire at the Manesar facility of its supplier, Subros Ltd, on May 29.

"Due to the strenuous efforts made by all concerned, operations at MSIL’s facilities in Gurgaon and Manesar have begun smoothly," the company said in a statement.

The company manufactures around 5,000 units of cars in four shifts at both locations (Gurgaon and Manesar) on a daily basis.

Maruti said that the closure period enabled it to arrange supply of components, both from Subros as well as from other sources, and result in higher production volumes.

The company’s stock was trading at Rs 4,087.55 on BSE, down 0.73 per cent in early trade.
