The Tamil Nadu based NTECL has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the State-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) for supply of one million tonnes of coal.

Under the agreement, NTECL (NTPC Tamilnadu Energy Company Limited), a joint venture company of NTPC and TANGEDCO, entered into with the coal mining company Singareni, the latter will supply one million Tonnes of coal this year.

N. Sridhar, CMD, SCCL and M. Shivarama Krishna, CEO of NTECL exchanged MoU papers in Singareni Bhavan here on Friday.

The coal supplied from the Singareni mines in Telangana will power up NTECL 1500 MW Vellore Thermal Power Plant.

NTECL is the second biggest thermal power company to receive coal from SCCL in Tamil Nadu. Prior to this, Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd. had entered into a MoU with SCCL for supply of one million tonne of coal last year.

In a statement, N. Sridhar expressed his happiness over the agreement entered into with NTECL and said SCCL has been gaining assured market for its production in and around Telangana.
