Hospitality chain Royal Orchid Hotels today outlined plans to offer third-party management services in the mid-market segment.

It is scouting for management deals and is in parleys with several property developers.

The company, which manages about 18 properties, including resorts and hotels in the five- and four-star category, stated that it is poised to add at least seven properties during the current financial year taking the number of rooms up from 1,600 now to 2,500 by March.

The Chairman and Managing Director of Royal Orchid Hotels, Mr Chender Baljee, said the company has strengthened its management team and is keen to offer its expertise of hotel management to third parties, particularly in the mid-market segment. The focus is on four-star and three-star hotel categories. This is a largely untapped and yet a promising emerging business segment where property developers require expert support and major brands do not operate.

Mr Baljee told Business Line that seven new properties are at advanced stage of execution. These include a fully owned Rs 200-crore, 230-room project at Hyderabad coming up in the IT hub of Gachibowli, slated for commissioning by December, a 120-room project in Chennai, 60-room property in Surat and other ventures at Lokhandawala and Bharooch. Several other properties are at various stages of planning and execution, he said.
