Water level in 91 major reservoirs across the country has risen to 61 per cent of their total storage capacity from 59 per cent last week. As of September 14, the water storage was 92.51 billion cubic metres (BCM). It has now increased to 96.952 BCM.
The latest water levels in the reservoirs are 88 per cent of the storage reported during the corresponding period last year, the Union Water Resources Ministry said.
These are 82 per cent of the decadal average for the corresponding period. Reservoirs in Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Gujarat, UP, MP, Chhattisgarh, AP and Telangana have reported lesser storage than the previous year.
