Smartphone maker OnePlus has come up with a new initiative that involves 1-hour repair service for any problems with its phones.

The start-up has opened its first exclusive service centre in Bengaluru with plans to open more centres in cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Chennai, company officials said.

OnePlus India General Manager, Vikas Agarwal, said currently service centres take up to a week or more to get devices fixed and this is an inconvenience for customers. This, along with after-sales services that are substandard in India, are some of the issues the phonemaker is trying to address. OnePlus has tied up with B2X and Regenersis.

For remote locations, the company is offering pick up and drop services free of cost.

OnePlus did not reveal the number of phones it has sold in India but said its 'premium' phones are seeing a sizeable number of takers.

Another issue that OnePlus is looking to resolve is transparency in accessory rates. “People complained to us about overcharging and we decided to tackle this by publishing rates of accessories online,” said Agarwal.
