Pepper prices, in spot and futures, remained steady on sluggish activities on Friday. There was neither any arrival nor any offtake on Friday, market sources told BusinessLine .
According to them, domestic demand in the upcountry markets are currently met by imported pepper from Sri Lanka and Vietnam at ₹740 a kg.
They said availability in the local markets here are virtually very thin. Spot prices remained steady at ₹72,000 for ungarbled and ₹75,000 for garbled a quintal. Export prices were down at $12,800 a tonne (c&f) for Europe and $13,050 for the US following depreciation of the rupee on Friday.
