Sugar prices ruled steady on back of higher local demand and ample supplies in spot markets. Prices at the Vashi market declined by ₹15-20 a quintal on the higher side and increased by ₹10-15 on the lower side. Naka and mill tender rates were unchanged on eased demand at upper level.
Freight rates improved by ₹2-3 per bag ahead of festival.
Arrivals to the Vashi market were steady at 61-62 truck loads while local dispatches were also at 61-62 loads. On Monday evening, hardly 8-10 mills offered tenders sold about 18,000-20,000 bags at ₹3,000-50 (3,000-50) for S-grade and ₹3,060-3,150 (3,060-3,150) for M-grade.
The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹3,050-3,142 (3,012-3,162) and M-grade ₹3,146-3,272 (3,146-3,302). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹3,020-3,090 (3,020-3,090) and M-grade ₹3,120-3,200 (3,120-3,200).
