Strong buying support from exporters and domestic markets pushed up pepper prices on Thursday. On the terminal market, 40 tonnes of pepper were traded. The material was mainly from several centres in Wayanad district and the pepper was claimed to be a mixture of Kodagu stuff, they said. It was of 525-535 GL and traded at ₹550-555 a kg. High range pepper was being sold at ₹560-565. Spot prices moved up by ₹400 a quintal to ₹54,400 (ungarbled) and ₹57,400 (garbled). Export prices are at $9,400 a tonne c&f for Europe and $9,450 for the US.
