Extending gains for the second straight session, the rupee today rose by 23 paise to close at 64.09 a dollar on sustained selling of the American currency by exporters and banks.
Forex market was closed yesterday for a public holiday. On Monday, the rupee had ended 8 paise higher to end at 64.32 against the dollar.
The domestic currency has gained 31 paise in last two sessions.
