Silver prices were up by Rs 233 at Rs 48,725 per kg at the futures trade today as participants raised their bets amid a firm global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month December was up by Rs 233 or 0.48 per cent at Rs 48,725 per kg in a business turnover of 9 lots.
Similarly, the white metal for delivery in September traded higher by Rs 230 or 0.49 per cent at Rs 47,592 per kg in a business volume of 799 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in silver prices at the futures trade to a firm trend overseas as dollar’s safe-haven appeal weakened after the US Federal Reserve reiterated a gradual approach to raising interest rates.
Globally, silver traded 0.30 per cent higher at $20.17 an ounce in Singapore.
