The Sun Pharma stock maintained its strong momentum to consolidate its gains above 7 per cent by late trading on the BSE on Wednesday. At 3.05 pm the stock was quoting at ₹629.50, up 7.19 per cent on its Monday close of ₹587.25.
Earlier, the pharma stock resumed its uptrend on the exchange today after Monday’s announcement that it was acquiring Ranbaxy in a $4-billion deal. The market was closed for a holiday on Tuesday.
Private sector bank stocks ICICI Bank and Axis Bank advanced by late trading today. ICICI Bank made rapid gains to quote up 4.33 per cent at ₹1,261.40 as against ₹1,209.05 at close on Monday.
Axis Bank was up 4.23 per cent at ₹1,481.85 as against ₹1,421.70 at close yesterday.
Tata Motors rode up 4.28 per cent to trade at ₹420.50. The stock had closed the previous session at ₹403.25.
Hindalco Industries gained 4.16 per cent at ₹142.80 as against its previous close of ₹137.15.
