For the first time on Indian broadcasting, stories of gallantry are being made into an animated series called 'War Heroes of India'.

The series is to be produced by Pune-based creative studio ScreenYug and will be based on graphic war novels and comic books written by Major General G D Bakshi and his son Aditya. The stories are of the brave recipients of the highest military awards - the Param Vir Chakra and the Ashok Chakra.

ScreenYug is the the producer of path breaking animated properties like Krishna aur Kans feature film, television series like Little Krishna and Shaktimaan, and numerous AD Commercials and short films.

The new animated series will comprise 52 episodes, each of 22 minutes duration. Every episode will be dedicated to the inspiring story of one hero of the Indian Defence services.

Over 400 real life stories have already been researched for the series by the Bakshis. The series is planned for an all-India release with Hindi as the key language and dubbed in several regional languages.

“The Indian Armed Forces and BSF are some of the most combat tested forces in the world. There are hundreds of stories of great valour and sacrifice that can motivate our children and spread values of duty honour and courage among our youth. An animated series portraying these stories is the best way to instil values in today's time.” Maj Gen Bakshi said.

Ashish S K, content creator and chief mentor, ScreenYug, added, “War Heroes series is the need of the hour. Animation is the only medium which provides such creative freedom which can do full justice to the war stories and the large canvas our brave heroes deserve.”
