Improvements in infrastructure at Mangalore airport came in for discussion at a meeting convened by the Minister in charge of Dakshina Kannada District, Ramansth Rai, to review various development projects in the district on Saturday.
The meeting was informed that 289 acres of land was required for extending the length of the runway from 8000 ft to 13000 ft. The Centre has been asked to look into this matter, the meeting was told.
The Deputy Commissioner of the district, AB Ibrahim, said the State Government has released Rs 2.5 crore for acquiring a private building in the vicinity of the terminal building.
Regarding progress in the work on the exit road from the airport, the agency concerned was asked to speed up the work.
