The remark of the Union Minister of State for Home, H.P Chaudhury, that Andhra Pradesh does not require special category status made in the Rajya Sabha on Friday is not correct, according to AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
He was speaking here in Andhra University on Saturday evening on a workshop on "Neeru- pragathi" (water and progress). The Chief Minister said he had repeatedly brought to the notice of the Centre "the injustice done to Andhra Pradesh in bifurcation of the State and the imperative need for central assistance to bring the state on a par with other developed states."
The Chief Minister said he would address a letter to the Prime Minister on the issue again to impress upon him the need for generous central aid for the State in the aftermath of bifurcation.
