The Dakshina Kannada district administration is expecting nearly ₹700 crore in investments from the ‘Invest Karnataka’ meet scheduled to be held in Bengaluru next month.

Chairing a meeting of various industry associations in Mangaluru on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim said that investments are expected in different industries and in tourism sector in the district.

Existing proposals He said Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is planning to invest around ₹100 crore in an LPG bottling unit in Mangaluru. It has sought around 40 acres of land.

Gokuldas Nayak, Joint Director of District Industries Centre, said that investors have come forward to invest around ₹250 crore in pharma sector and ₹25 crore in a steel plant.

NRI industrialist BR Shetty is keen to invest around ₹250 crore in wellness and spa sector, he said.

Clifford Lobo, Assistant Director of Tourism Department, said the department has received six proposals worth ₹59 crore for investments in different parts of the district. This includes investments to the tune of ₹45 crore in a resort project in Mangaluru.

Ibrahim said the district administration has sent a proposal to the State government to set up a pharma park in the district.
