Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao was sacked as Chairman of the State’s Brahmin Welfare Corporation Limited for Facebook posts expressing views against the N Chandrababu Naidu government.

Vemuri Anand Surya has been appointed in his place for a period of two years.

Addressing a media conference here on Tuesday, Rao said he had posted views critical of the TDP government.

The post was triggered by the arrest of a cartoonist, and other instances such as the extension of concessions to movies like Bahubali and Gautamiputra Satakarni .

These comments were made in good faith and that there was no malice against anyone, Krishna Rao explained.

‘No chance to explain’

He said he was denied an appointment with the Chief Minister despite several requests to clear the air. “My only objective was to do good to the community. I have other better things to do in life. I plan to write on Amaravati and other issues,” he said.

Later, addressing the media, Parakala Prabhakar, Communications Advisor to AP, said the government had nothing against Rao and that the Chief Minister had highest regard for him. He also stated that they enjoyed cordial relations during his tenure as Chief Secretary and later as the Chairman of the Corporation.
