Southern Railway will bring in changes in the pattern of road traffic to ease congestion in main portico area of Chennai Central railway station and to aid smooth flow of traffic on the Poonamallee High Road in peak hours. The changes are done in consultation with enforcement agencies concerned and will take effect from June 15.
Commercial vehicles such as taxis and call taxis will be permitted only through the Moore Market Complex entry of Chennai Central railway station. Separate space is earmarked for dropping and picking up passengers. Moreover, adequate parking facility is also available in the area. Passengers who are using taxis and call taxis, therefore, are appealed to use Moore Market Complex entry from Allikulam Road for entry and exit.
As this is aimed at streamlining the vehicular traffic in Chennai Central railway station in the larger interest of the passengers, the travelling public is appealed to make note of the revised traffic arrangements and to extend their co-operation to Southern Railway Administration to serve them better.
