Chennai-based real estate developer St Angelo’s VNCT has come on board as owners of Premier Futsal team ‘Chennai 5’s’ for the second season of the league.

The company said it has invested close to ₹5.5 crore for the team ownership.

“We are highly confident that we will be in a position to monetise our team. Futsal as a concept was well received in the first season, and we are looking to take it to the international market,” Agnelo Rajesh, owner, St Angelo’s VNCT, told BusinessLine .

The league has a total of six teams. The Mumbai team is owned by RR Kabel. The other teams are yet to be announced. The six teams will play each other seven times prior to the semi-finals.

The second season will commence on September 17.

Premier Futsal had roped in footballer Ronaldinho for three years.

It has also announced its collaboration with leading futsal agency Proneo Sports, for season two. Premier Futsal has over 36 international players for this season.

Last week, Premier Futsal said it had roped in international media distribution entity MediaPro to take its media format to 7-8 international markets during the upcoming season.
