Players of the Indian Premier League team SunRisers of Hyderabad and Garnier Men, a skincare products brand, have came together to promote a social campaign with the objective of lighting up villages without electricity.

At an event hosted at the City Centre Mall here, SunRisers players Cameron White, Ishant Sharma and Dale Steyn launched the social campaign named PowerLight a Village.

Garnier is the official grooming partner for the SunRisers.

As part of the event, they rode a PowerLight a Village bicycle in the mall and contributed their bit towards the cause. This provided an opportunity for fans to meet the cricketers in person.

Cameron White of Sunrisers said, “As cricketers we believe that we reach out to a vast set of audiences across the country almost everyday. Through our small contribution, we hope that we can influence our fans and supporters to support the cause.”

Nathalie Gerschtein, General Manager, Garnier, said, “We have initiated this campaign in order to spread light across the less fortunate, remote areas of India by using natural resources such as solar energy. Our customers need not have to contribute anything in cash or kind, just support towards this initiative online. We will help the team light up another village.”

Through the campaign, it is proposed to provide some villages with one solar lamp with a built-in mobile charging unit, one solar tube light and a solar panel to charge the equipment.
