United Singhs knocked down a stiff defence put up by California Eagles to win their second match 60-54 in the World Kabaddi League here today.

The Sonakshi Sinha-owned team started on a high note and remained in lead position throughout but the Eagles levelled the score in the third quarter of the match at 30-all.

Competition went stiff till early minutes of the fourth quarter. However, the Eagles managed a comfortable win with the help of their star raider Baljeet Singh who managed to earn 19 out of 20 successful raids. Baljeet was also declared the ‘Man of the Match’.

“It’s a wonderful experience to win the first match of the India leg and moreover get the Man of the Match title. Though we lost one of our matches but we have come back into the game since then. I hope that we continue with our performance and take the lead,” said the raider.

Asked about the new circle format introduced by the league, Baljeet said, “Initially it is becoming problematic for us to play in this format as we are not used to it. But I hope we will get compatible with it. It is very audience friendly and really enjoyable.”

From the very first minute, the rivals took to mocking each other. As the match progressed, fisticuffs between the two sides escalated along with the rising heat of the match.

California Eagles, who are currently at the bottom end of the table by losing their previous two matches, retain their position by losing the third one too.

The World Kabaddi League started in London on August 7 and came to India this weekend.
