Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli (IIM Trichy) held its third annual convocation recently and awarded Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and Post Graduate Programme in Business Management (PGPBM) to the graduating batches at the site of its permanent campus, which is in the process of being built.
M. Damodaran, Chairman of Board of Governors, IIM Trichy awarded the diplomas to the 106 graduating students of PGDM and 25 students of the first batch of PGPBM.
The PGPBM is a 30-month programme offered at IIM Trichy's Chennai Centre for working executives who aspire to equip themselves with a formal management education and move into senior leadership roles, even as they continue to work. The first batch of PGPBM was launched in August 2012.
Uday Kotak, Executive Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Kotak Mahindra Bank was the chief guest and delivered the convocation address. He took the audience on a journey through his life, and shared some of his experiences he had gathered along the way.
Kotak spoke about the importance of recognising opportunities when one comes across them. He ended his speech by urging the new graduates to not compromise on their convictions, while reminding them to always keep in mind the distinction between conviction and foolhardiness.
Kotak also announced a new medal, sponsored by Kotak Securities, to be awarded annually for exemplary student performance.
