He is one of the most important men at Jaguar but Mr Ian Callum, Design Director, is amazed at Mr Ratan Tata's energy levels. The 73-year-old Chairman of Tata Motors is said to be completely “hands-on” and constantly eager to push the envelope further.
The change in ownership from Ford has been a smooth transition for Jaguar and the Indian company, in fact, believes in complete autonomy of operations.
Mr Callum has been the driving force for Jaguar over the years but is yet to try out his expertise on the Tata range of cars.
He admits that new markets like China pose their own challenges in design given that people there seldom drive their cars and are a lot more understated and subtle compared to their Western counterparts.
