Battery maker Eveready Industries India has roped in Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar as its brand ambassador.
“We are happy to have Akshay Kumar as the brand ambassador for Eveready... It is a very natural association and we are sure that this relationship will be mutually rewarding one,” the company Vice-Chairman, Mr Deepak Khaitan, said in a statement today.
The brand was earlier endorsed by Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan who had been signed on as its brand ambassador in 2004 for a two-year period.
Eveready sells around 1.2 billion units of batteries annually and over 2 million pieces of torches per annum.
In the mid-nineties, the company had launched its first major advertisement campaign with the slogan ‘Give me Red’. It currently has a distribution network of over 4,000 distributors reaching out to more than 1 million retail outlets directly.
