Mahindra First Choice Services (MFCS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Mahindra and Mahindra that operates in the multi-brand car servicing space is on an expansion drive and plans to set up a chain of 240 workshops across India by the 2014 fiscal.

The company opened its 13th workshop in India, and its first to be co-located with sister company Mahindra First Choice Wheels, at Pune today.

“Our vision is to create in the pre-owned cars space a complete eco-system along the lines of that for new cars,” Mr Rajeev Dubey, President, Group HR & Aftermarket, said adding that 60 such workshops will be set up by the end of FY-2012.

By end of FY-2014, the workshops will number 240, including 25-30 of company owned outlets, and cater to around 500,000 post-warranty vehicles per annum.

Training centres

MFCS will also set up mobile workshops and three training centres to train personnel.

The used car market is estimated to be 1.2 times that of new car sales, and nearly 2.3 million pre-owned cars will be sold by end of the current fiscal. The servicing market in India is pegged at Rs 30,000 crore annually of which less that 40% are serviced by the organised sector.
