Soft drink concentrate brand Rasna Pvt Ltd is looking at a 20 per cent growth in its national sales turnover in the current fiscal, as the company has registered Rs 450 crore business in the last fiscal.
Of the total sales, Kerala's contribution is 5-7 per cent and the company is aiming to achieve 10 per cent growth from the State in the current fiscal with the launch of Rasna Squash and Fruit Plus Singles, Mr Piruz Khambatta, Chairman and Managing Director, told reporters here on Monday.
Mr Khambatta, who was here in connection with the launch of the products, said that Kerala market witnessed a 45 per cent growth in the last four months, which is the highest growth rate in any State. He pointed out that the consumption of squash is high in the State at 66.2 million litres a year. The company is looking at a 10 per cent share in the market, he added.
On if the company had any plans to start a production facility in Kerala, he said the rate of tax is higher in Kerala. While other States are charging 4 per cent VAT, the rate in Kerala is 12.5 per cent, he said.
The company with seven production facilities spread across the country is looking at facilities in Africa. The proposal is in planning stage. There are now two production facilities in Dubai and Dhaka and around 30 per cent of sales turnover comes from exports.
Rasna produces five billion glasses a year and is the biggest orange drink in the country. The company operates in more than 40 countries with a vast distribution network catering to 1.8 million retail outlets in India also, he said.
Rasna's vast product portfolio in exports consists of instant drinks, sports drinks, low sugar drinks, soft drink concentrate in dual form — powder and liquid — fruit jams and fruit cordial, among others.
