BD India, part of US-based medical devices maker Becton, Dickinson and Company, has launched a shorter insulin needle for the Indian market, which it claims can reduce pain during injection. The 6-mm BD Glide is for the pen syringe and is available at Rs 11 apiece.
The company recently launched another 4-mm needle for vial syringes, at Rs 7 apiece, which can hold lower amounts of insulin.
The new needle has a thinness index of 32G, making it as thin as hair, according to Anand Moses of the Institute of Diabetology.
