The Bajaj Auto Workers’ Union has asked the labour court for a week’s time to appoint a lawyer, following which the Pune labour court has set July 16 as the date of next hearing the petition filed by the motorcycle major.
Dilip Pawar, President of the Vishwakalyan Sanghatana (VKS), made an appearance at today’s hearing, and took the papers, a Bajaj official said.
Today is the 14th consecutive day of the work stoppage called by VKS, the workers’ union at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan plant.
Meanwhile, the company has shifted part of Pulsar manufacture to its plant at Aurangabad and said that 800 bikes will be built here, while 1,600 units will be built at Chakan.
“We have achieved nearly 80 per cent of our normal production,” K.J. Zanzari, V-P, Manufacturing (motorcycles), said, adding that the inventory pipeline with dealers now is at two weeks from the earlier 4-5 weeks.
