Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) said on Tuesday that it has commissioned a 500 MW unit for fourth stage of Vindhyachal Super Thermal Power Project in Madhya Pradesh. This would generate 12 million units of electricity every day.
"The main plant package contract for fourth stage of Vindhyachal Project was placed for NTPC. This is the fifth 500 MW unit that BHEL has commissioned for NTPC during the past three months,” BHEL said in a statement. The others units commissioned include Vallur-1, Simhadri-4, Mauda-1 and Rihand-5.
With the commissioning of the Vindhyachal unit, BHEL has added 2,000 MW to the grid in the current financial year.
