State-owned BHEL today said it has bagged Rs 630 crore contract from a private power company Abhijeet Projects for setting up a thermal plant at Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
“BHEL has signed a contract with Abhijeet Projects Ltd, an independent power producer, for setting up a 300 MW thermal power plant in Visakhapatnam,” a BHEL statement said.
Valued at Rs 630 crore, the contract includes design, engineering, manufacture and commissioning of Boilers, Steam Turbines and Turbo-Generators.
BHEL is also executing a contract for supply and installation of the main plant package (boilers, turbines and generators) for Abhijeet Projects’ 1,080 MW coal-based Matrishri Usha Jayaswal Mega Power Plant, located at Latehar district of Jharkhand, near Ranchi.
In the previous two financial years, BHEL has received 71 per cent of their power plant equipment orders from IPPs.
Of the total orders for 31,560 MW power plant equipment received by BHEL during 2009-10 and 2010-11, the ones received from IPPs alone accounted for 22,369 MW.
