Global group Black & Veatch has said it would design Reliance Power’s Rs 10,000 crore upcoming Samalkot power plant in Andhra Pradesh. Black & Veatch is a global engineering, consulting and construction company.
“Reliance Power has selected Black & Veatch to design its Rs 10,000-crore Samalkot power plant. When completed, the facility will be the largest plant of its kind in India. It will produce energy equivalent to power more than two million homes and support economic development across the region,” it said in a statement.
Initial construction work has started at the plant, which is expected to start generating power in early 2012.
Mr Mohan Tahiliani, vice president for Black & Veatch’s global energy business said availability of reliable and affordable power is critical for India’s sustainable economic development.
