IT consulting and product engineering company KPIT Technologies received 1,700 ideas from over 10,000 engineering and science students across 500 colleges in India for its annual design and development innovation contest KPIT Sparkle 2016.
The top shortlisted teams will exhibit their solutions through scales models and working prototypes at the grand finale scheduled in Pune on January 30.
This year’s theme for the contest is ‘Smart Solutions for Energy and Transportation’ and the best ideas stand to win prizes worth Rs 21.5 lakh.
Held in association with College of Engineering, Pune KPIT Sparkle 2016 aims at fostering a culture of innovation and critical thinking among engineering and science students across colleges in India. Some of the 350 ideas selected for the second round included Green Energy, New Fuels & Materials, Autonomous Vehicles and Intelligent Traffic Management.
Ravi Pandit, Co-founder, Chairman & Group CEO, KPIT said in a statement, “It is heartening to see some of the brightest minds of this generation apply scientific thinking to solve real world problems. The ideas that we have received leave no doubt that today’s youth have immense potential to identify and fix critical problems to build a cleaner, greener, safer and more intelligent environment. We strongly believe that such innovation and problem solving ability should be nurtured. KPIT Sparkle 2016 aims at inspiring young minds to develop creative technology solutions that will improve the existing state of energy and transportation.”
