Nalco has registered a net profit of Rs 160 crore in the Q1 to June 30, 2013 against Rs 223 crore in the corresponding period of the last fiscal.
According to a management statement, this sharp drop in net profit was owing to lower international prices of its products.
Nalco’s aluminium output dropped to 0.85 lakh tonnes from 1.03 lakh tonnes. It sold 0.85 lakh tonnes of aluminium (1.02 lakh tones).
Bauxite production during the first quarter increased to 14.63 lakh tonnes against 11.42 lakh tonnes in the corresponding quarter of last fiscal. Alumina production went marginally up to 4.82 lakh tonnes (4.76 lakh tones). Captive power generation was down at 1,327 million units (1,614 million units).
Total alumina sale during the quarter was at 2.83 lakh tonnes (2.53 lakh tonnes).
