Petronas Lubricants International (PLI) has launched a new lubricant blending plant in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation industrial area at (Patalganga, near Mumbai.

The $50-million plant has an estimated output of 110 million litres, and is expected to commence operations by the end of 2017.

“PLI has very aggressive ambitions to be amongst the world’s top lubricants player by 2019,” Giuseppe Pedretti, PLI Regional Head of Asia, said in a press statement.

“India is without exception a very important market for us here in the Asia region and we are confident of the potential ahead of us…The new plant is equipped with world class lubricants blending facilities and equipment, highly automated production line, and increased storage tanks.”

India is the world’s third largest lubricants market behind the US and China.
