Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Visakhapatnam steel plant in July to dedicate the new unit after the completion of the expansion of the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) to the nation, according to Narendra Singh Tomar, the Union Minster for Steel and Mines.
He said the capacity of the steel plant had gone up from 3 million tonnes to 6.3 million tonnes and he had earlier reviewed the performance of the plant with the officials. He said he had also discussed the arrangements for the PM's visit.
He urged the party workers to make it a memorable occasion, as the PM would be visiting the biggest industrial unit in Andhra Pradesh. AP Chief Minister N. Chandra Babu Naidu would also accompany him.
K. Haribabu, Visakhapatnam Member of Parliament and the State BJP president, said the PM was also likely to inaugurate the underground crude cavern being built by the HPCL here. The dates for the PM's visit would have to be finalised.
Earlier, the Union Steel Minister and the local MP visited the steel plant.
