Solar power project builder Sterling and Wilson has said it would open four offices in Africa in a bid to capture a slice of the growing solar market in the continent. By the end of this year, the Shapoorji Pollonji group company would have offices in Nigeria, Tanzania, Kenya and Ghana, adding to its presence in Cape Town and Cairo now.
Sterling and Wilson’s 90 MW project in South Africa is nearing completion; the company is also building a 50 MW solar plant in Egypt. Further, it has another 50 MW plant under construction in Jordan, West Asia, and two plants of total capacity of 51 MW in the Philippines.
The company has said in a press release that it sees itself building 500 MW of solar plants in Africa in the next three years. “The industry is growing rapidly,” observes Bikesh Ogra, President, Solar EPC business, Sterling and Wilson.
