Tata Power has launched a voice bot Tina that will help the utility’s residential, commercial and industrial customers communicate with the company using AI-based technologies.

The voice bot, powered by Google Assistant, can be used with the help of compatible Android or iOS mobile devices and Google Home devices, without downloading the app, or visiting the company website, Tata Power said in the statement.

It added that Tata Power customers can now use voice commands to interact with Tina for various billing and payment-related services.

“As an essential service provider, we constantly look for new and powerful means to support and engage with our customers better,” said Praveer Sinha, CEO and Managing Director, Tata Power.

According to Raghu Ravinutala, CEO, Yellow Messenger, which offered technology support for Tata Power for creating the voice bot, AI can make businesses much more customer-friendly and reduce operational costs in the process.

The integration of Tina with Google Assistant gives it the ability to process requests and retrieve the relevant information without asking for customer ID, phone number or other personal details.
