VA Tech Wabag has bagged a $108-million (₹ 717 crore) order for establishing an integrated water supply system in Polgahawela, Sri Lanka.
The Exim Bank of India-funded Polgahawela water treatment plant for the Water Board of Sri Lanka is the second project in the country for Wabag. It had earlier bagged a project in Dambulla which is at an advanced stage of completion, according to information provided by Wabag to the BSE.
The Polgahawela project order covers design, construction and commissioning of the water supply system.
The Chennai-based Wabag has bagged orders totalling about ₹ 5,000 crore in the current financial year, the highest order intake in a single financial year for the multinational in water management and waste water recycling.
Some of the major contracts include a ₹ 1,500-crore effluent treatment plant from Petronas, Malaysia; ₹ 580-crore Al Madina Al shamaliya Sewage Treatment Plant order; and a ₹ 220-crore order from Dangote Fertilizers in Nigeria.
The release quoting Rajiv Mittal, Managing Director, Wabag, said the diversified geographical presence with focus on emerging markets have contributed to the growth in order intake.
