Bhojpuri superstar Manoj Tiwari was the first celebrity to reach Ramlila Maidan — the site of Baba Ramdev’s hunger strike — today where he sang bhajans and patriotic songs along with thousands of supporters of the yoga guru.
The popular singer-actor claimed that he had told his producer that he will not shoot for a month from June 4 as he wanted to join Baba Ramdev in his campaign against black money.
Tiwari said he had informed his producer in advance that he may have to bear the loss as the actor wanted to join Ramdev.
Tiwari began with Mahatma Gandhi’s favourite bhajan ‘Raghupati Raghav Rajaram’ and also sang other patriotic songs.
A young sadhu, who claimed to be a Bhuddhist yoga teacher, was seen recording the performance on his Blackberry.
Ramdev earlier began his much-celebrated hunger strike against corruption and black money after the government failed in last ditch efforts to talk him out of the protest.
From 4.50 a.m. to 8.15 a.m., Baba Ramdev gave a yoga discourse and then took a 45 minute break.
Devotional and patriotic songs reverberated across the sprawling grounds where thousands of people poured in to see and listen to Ramdev who laced his discourse with humour and demonstration of ‘asanas’.
