Delhi-based Construction Federation of India (CFI) has asked sought service tax exemption to infrastructure projects in the power sector, on the lines of the benefits available for projects in other infrastructure sectors such as roads, railways and airports.
In its representation submitted to the Finance Ministry for Budget 2011-12, the Federation has also sought excise duty exemption on all excisable goods supplied for setting up of power projects.
Further, the Federation has sought Customs duty exemption on cross-border leasing and hiring of equipment in view of such transactions also being subjected to payment of service tax and income-tax.
