Around 90 per cent of the offer at Sale No: 32 of the auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association was sold despite the average price rising to ₹86.78 a kg from the last week’s ₹84.90 due to better demand. This was the highest price in the last 14 weeks.
Homedale Estate’s Red Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the entire CTC auctions when Malik Traders bought it for ₹233 a kg. Homedale Estate’s Pekoe Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, followed at ₹230.
In the CTC Leaf tea auctions, Homedale’s two tea grades, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped at ₹210 and ₹200.
Among orthodox teas, Kodanad topped at ₹294 a kg. Corsley got ₹271, Chamraj ₹260, Mailoor ₹221, Kairbetta ₹212, Glendale ₹211, Havukal and Nonsuch orthodox ₹206 each.
