The Union Agriculture Minister, Mr Sharad Pawar today said the immense improvement in horticulture in north eastern states has contributed to generation of employment for people of the region.
There has been 70 per cent growth in horticultural sector in the region which triggered economic growth among the people, Mr Pawar said after inaugurating the auditorium of the College of Veterinary Sciences.
He emphasised the need for man power training in the sector and informed another Central Agriculture University would be set up in the northeast.
Mr Pawar also underscored the need for speedy dissemination of information for farmers and market linkages for agriculture and allied sectors.
