Low trading pulled the prices of Pussa-1121 and Permal rice down by Rs 15-30 a quintal while the other aromatic and non-basmati rice varieties managed to maintain their previous levels.
Owing to lukewarm trading, the prices of Pussa-1121 and Permal dropped while all others ruled almost unchanged, said Mr Amit Chandna, Proprietor, Hanuman Rice Trading Company. It was the beginning of a new financial year, and this was also a reason behind the low trading and the situation of the market was anticipated, he added.
On Friday, Pussa 1121 rice (steam) dropped by Rs 20 and ruled at Rs 5,100-5,255 a quintal, Pusa-1121(sela) decreased by 30 and was quoted at Rs 4,125-4,270, and Pusa-1121(raw) was at Rs 5,040-5,110. Prices of duplicate basmati continued to rule firm and quoted at Rs 3,700-4,000 a quintal.
Brokens such as Tibar quoted at Rs 3,025-3,340, Dubar Rs 2,350-2,570 and Mongra Rs 1,800-2,100.
Sharbati (steam) ruled at Rs 3,000-3,020, while Sharbati (raw) traded at Rs 2,800-2,895 a quintal.
PR-11 (sela) ruled at Rs 2,000-2,035 and PR-11(raw), Rs 2,000-2,130 a quintal. Permal (sela) quoted at Rs 1,650-1,880 a quintal while Permal (raw) traded at Rs 1,800-1,860. For the brokens of Sharbati variety, Tibar was at Rs 2,350, Dubar Rs 2,115, and Mongra Rs 1,430.
