Devon Plantations & Industries Ltd has won three awards at the 13th edition of The Golden Leaf India Awards (TGLIA) held in Dubai recently. Devon Estate has bagged the awards in the categories of CTC Leaf, CTC Fannings and CTC Dust. “Devon Plantations is a single estate and we have won all the categories for Karnataka teas,” said Roshin Varghese, Managing Director, Devon Plantations & Industries Ltd.
The awards are expected to help Devon fetch better realisations for its teas at the auctions. Devon Estate, located in Chikkamagalur, produces around 6 lakh kg of tea annually that are mainly sold through the auctions in Kochi and Coimbatore, Varghese said. The company is now eyeing the export markets in Russia and Australia. This is for the fifth time that Devon has won the TGLIA awards since they were instituted in 2005.
